While serving in the District of Utah during the 2002 Winter Olympics, I experienced firsthand all the federal, state and local agencies who produced official items to celebrate the event. After transferring to the Western District of Michigan, the idea to document and display our symbols and emblems was born. This Museum was officially created in 2011 and championed the first U.S. Probation commemorative badge in 2015. The first U.S. Pretrial Services commemorative badge followed in 2017. For the 2025 Centennial, the third commemorative badge has been released.
The Museum continues to strive to discover and document the 100-year legacy of United States Probation and Pretrial Services through the collection, preservation, and display of the symbols and tools of the job.
